Informal talks, valuable conclusions, workshops, games with a side of fun and chill – this is how one would describe #SchoolNews Festival, held on the 27th of September at the Pavilion of Youth in the Cluj Railway Workers’ Park. This was the closing event of the #SchoolNews project. Students from four school newspapers’ editorial teams took part in this project from the summer of 2024 until today. The schools and their newspapers are called: Avram Iancu Theoretical High Scool – NOI, George Coșbuc National College – Țaitung, Emil Racoviță National College – Racovista, Cluj Reformed Theological High School – Tálentum.
Within the #SchoolNews project, PONT Group supported the development of four school magazines so that young people aged 14 to 18 could become more engaged, develop critical thinking, and improve their digital media literacy skills, through direct involvement in content creation and by accessing content created by their peers.
#SchoolNews is implemented by PONT Group as part of the project “Digital Media Education for Youth in Romania”, funded by Fondation Botnar, coordinated by the Center for Independent Journalism, and implemented in partnership with Ashoka Romania, E-Civis, EDUMI, Funky Citizens.
